Age Requirement
To rent this car, you must meet the following age requirement: 25 - 70 years. Please ensure you meet this requirement before proceeding with the booking.
Office Instructions
Driver Age & Licence Requirements
The minimum driver age is 21 years and the maximum is 70 years (some Premium/Luxury/Sports groups may have additional restrictions). For Small, Economy and Compact vehicles, the licence must be held for at least 6 months. For Luxury, Premium and Sports vehicles, it must be held for at least 2 years. GCC renters may use a valid GCC licence with a GCC passport or Resident Card. Renters from listed countries may use their national licence without an International Driving Permit (IDP); all others must carry a valid IDP together with their original domestic licence.
Documents Required at Pickup
The renter must provide: a valid passport, an original driving licence matching the booking, an International Driving Permit where required, a credit card in the main renter's name, and the booking voucher or rental confirmation. If the required documents are not provided, the rental may be cancelled, subject to the applicable cancellation terms.
Security Deposit
The renter's payment card is used only to hold the security deposit — not the rental fee itself. Accepted cards: MasterCard, Visa, American Express — in the main renter's name and valid for at least 3 months after the return date. Virtual cards are not accepted unless approved, and using another person's card (including family) is not allowed. Cash deposits are not accepted. A refundable deposit of OMR 150 to OMR 500 (by vehicle group) is held/pre-authorised on the card and normally remains blocked until return and all checks are complete; release can take up to 30 business days depending on the bank. The deposit may cover damage, fuel, traffic fines, cleaning, excess mileage, lost keys, missing equipment or other applicable charges.
Theft & Accident Procedure
In the event of theft, serious damage or an accident, the renter must contact INTERNATIONAL RENT A CAR and the Royal Oman Police (9999) immediately, and obtain the required police report. Without it, the renter may be fully liable for repair or replacement costs. The renter must not settle any claim with another party without contacting the office first, and must provide all documents/assistance required for the insurance claim.
Insurance Conditions & Exclusions
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs voids the insurance, making the renter liable for the full repair cost and rental charges during repair. Off-road and reckless driving are strictly prohibited. The renter is liable for damage from misuse, negligence, loss, theft or confiscation. Insurance does not cover damage to windscreen, side/rear windows, tyres, rims or interior accessories. The renter must keep keys and documents safe; failure to return them may affect coverage.
Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) — Optional
SCDW is an optional add-on that reduces the CDW excess by 50%. Rates vary by vehicle group: OMR 10/day, OMR 25/day, or OMR 40/day. Not available for Economy Elite and Luxury Convertible groups. It does not cover glass, tyres, wheels, accessories or other excluded items. A police report is still mandatory in the event of an accident or damage.
Fees & Charges
Additional charges may apply for: airport surcharge, traffic fines/violations and related admin costs, lost/damaged vehicle registration documents, early termination (unused days are non-refundable), removed/damaged vehicle stickers or electronic sticker, excessive cleaning needs, lost or damaged keys, and lost or damaged child seats (subject to availability).
No-Show & Non-Collection
No refund is provided for a vehicle not collected, collected late, or returned early. If the customer does not collect the vehicle at the agreed time without cancelling according to policy, the reservation may be treated as a No-Show and the applicable charge will apply.
Rental Period, Pickup & Return Grace Periods
Rental charges are calculated on a 24-hour basis. Customers expecting to be late for pickup must contact the office at least one hour before the scheduled time, including flight delays. A 1-hour grace period applies to vehicle return; after that, additional rental charges apply.
Price Calculation, Early Return & Unused Days
Rental prices are based on the agreed pickup/return times. No refund is given for early return, unused rental days, late collection, no-show, cancellation after the rental has started, or unused optional extras, subject to booking terms. Choosing a different vehicle at pickup may incur an additional charge.
Roadside Assistance
24/7 roadside assistance is available. In the event of a breakdown, the office will provide reasonable assistance and, where possible, arrange a replacement vehicle as soon as reasonably possible, subject to availability. The renter must not attempt any repair without prior approval.
Fuel Policy
The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup. If returned with less fuel, the missing fuel plus a refuelling/service fee will be charged; unused fuel is not refundable. Using the wrong fuel type makes the renter liable for recovery, cleaning and repair costs.
Mileage Limits
Rentals of 1–29 days include 200 km per day. Rentals of 30 days or more include 4,000 km per 30-day period. Additional mileage is charged according to the applicable rate.
Cross-Border Travel & Ferry Use
Cross-border travel and ferry use are only allowed with prior written permission. Not all vehicles are permitted to cross the border. Required NOC and border documents must be obtained beforehand: minimum OMR 36.750 (weekly) or OMR 157.500 (monthly), plus possible additional insurance depending on destination and vehicle. Damage occurring during ferry loading/unloading or on board may not be covered.
Off-Road Driving
Off-road driving (in desert, sand, rough terrain or any unpaved road) and reckless driving are strictly prohibited. The renter is fully responsible for any damage resulting from off-road or reckless driving.
Insurance Coverage Overview (CDW, THW, TPL)
The rental price includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Theft Waiver (THW), and Third Party Liability (TPL). CDW and Theft Waiver excess range from OMR 150 to OMR 500 depending on the vehicle group. TPL coverage is limited to EUR 50,000 for injuries and property damage to third parties. An Immobilisation Charge applies in the event of an accident, calculated by vehicle group and repair days required.
Vehicle Condition, Authorised Use & Post-Return Charges
The vehicle may be inspected/photographed before and after rental; the renter must report any unrecorded existing damage immediately. Only the renter and authorised additional drivers may drive the vehicle, in line with these terms, traffic laws, insurance requirements and office instructions. Tampering with GPS/IVMS tracking equipment is prohibited. The renter remains responsible for traffic fines, parking charges, tolls and other charges relating to the rental period even if received after the vehicle is returned.
Personal Belongings & Customer Acceptance
The office is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings left in the vehicle during or after the rental. By signing the agreement, accepting the vehicle, completing an online booking or taking possession of the vehicle, the renter confirms they have read, understood and accepted these Rental Terms and Conditions and agrees to comply with all applicable laws, insurance requirements and rental conditions.

Security Deposit Required
If your nationality is not from GCC countries, you will have to pay a security deposit of OMR 250.000 in cash at the office. This amount will be refunded after a processing period once you return the car, in accordance with the rental office's policy.
